FAQs
Do I have to run?
Nope – it’s completely up to you how you choose to complete the miles. Walk, jog, run, hop, skip or wheelchair race!
How should I split the distance?
Again – that is down to you. It averages to around 2.2miles per day over the twelve days – you can opt to do more miles some days and less or none others, or some may choose to tackle the beast in one hit! It really depends on how you feel the challenge is best suited to you, but we like that the motivation is there to encourage us all to be active over the twelve days.
Do I have to complete the miles on a specific date?
As long as the distance is completed over the twelve days of Christmas (starting December 25th and ending January 5th ) – then you will get your medal and be considered as ‘completed’ the challenge. This is not a strict rule, in the case of exceptional circumstances – please email us if there are any problems.
Why have you chosen the MS Trust?
Twelve Day Marathon co-founder Livvy was diagnosed with MS earlier this year, and the MS Trust have been a huge help to her and her family during a really challenging and uncertain time. MS is a lifelong neurological condition which affects your brain and spinal cord, and this can cause various symptoms which greatly vary for each individual, no one case is the same. For Livvy, her first relapse affected her left side impacting on mobility and sensations, she has recovered well and has a brilliant MS team around her who have started her on some very effective treatment aimed at slowing down disease progression. For those who know Livvy, you will know that running means a lot to her, and she has decided that she will continue to run for as long as MS allows her to – signing up to run the London Marathon for the MS Trust in 2024. The MS Trust receives no government or NHS funding and relies solely on donations, therefore by signing up to the Twelve Day Marathon you are helping ensure that this service continues to be there for those who currently have MS and those who are
yet to be diagnosed. If you wish to learn more about MS, or what the MS Trust does, you can head to their website here.
How much of my entry fee goes to charity?
Your entry fee covers the processing of your registration for the event, your medal and delivery. All remaining funds are then donated to the MS Trust. We as the organisers receive no financial benefit in wages, gifts or any monetary value. For a full breakdown, please see here.
When will I get my medal?
All medals will be posted via Royal Mail once the challenge has been completed. We aim for all medals to be sent out by the 12th January – this is excluding circumstances out of our control such as with the medal suppliers. International mail will take longer to arrive. Please note we are not liable for any postal delays or strikes.
Can I enter from outside the UK?
Absolutely! We accept entries from around the globe. Entries are slightly more expensive to account for the additional postage costs. Please read our terms & conditions regarding import tax etc.
Do I have to prove I completed the distance?
No we will take your word for it, we know you wouldn't want a medal you didn't earn, you will be able to notify us through the ‘I have finished’ button once it becomes active but won't need to provide evidence if you don’t wish to.
What if I would like to submit evidence?
You can record your distance using a tracker of your choice eg. Garmin watch, Fitbit or an app such as Strava/Nike. Evidence can be in the form of a screenshot from your phone of your Strava or other app or we will also accept photos from your phone, running watch, Fitbit etc. Once you have completed the full distance, please press the button on our website: ‘I have finished’. You will then have the option to submit your evidence.
What is the deadline for notifying you of my completion?
Please ensure you have hit that ‘I have finished’ button by January 8th for us to be able to pack and send your medal in good time. Should you experience exceptional circumstances please let us know as soon as you are able to.
Do you publish results on your website?
We have decided not to publish results this year. You will receive confirmation that you have completed the event but we will not publish your name or finish time etc anywhere.
